Arnold Schwarzenegger: People are forgiving

Arnold Schwarzenegger believes that honesty is the only way to win back someone’s trust.
The 65-year-old Terminator actor was disgraced in 2011 when it was revealed that he fathered a son with the family housekeeper.
Arnold’s wife Maria Shriver separated from him after hearing the news of his teenage love child and moved out of the family home with their four children.
In light of shamed bicyclist Lance Armstrong’s recent revelation during an Oprah Winfrey interview that he did in fact use performance-enhancing drugs, Arnold has had time to reflect on the impact of his own deception.
“I think the most important thing is to just say it the way it is,” Arnold told Extra.
“I think that people are forgiving with mistakes, but they aren’t forgiving when you start beating around the bush or try to hide or try to lie. So it’s always the cover-up that gets you into more trouble than the actual mistake.”
Arnold revealed details about the scandal in his book Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story.
Despite the sordid details, the star remains on good terms with his estranged spouse Maria, whom he says is “absolutely” the love of his life.
“I have to credit my wife, who has been terrific in keeping everything together,” Arnold said.
