Drew Barrymore has continued her rant at the “impossible expectations” put upon celebrity mothers.
The 37-year-old actress and her husband Will Kopelman welcomed their first child at the end of September.
Four-month-old Olive has completely flipped her attitude toward body image.
“Screw these impossible expectations,” she proclaimed to USA Today when asked about her progress on returning to her pre-baby body.
The remarks ring familiar for Drew, who has turned up her nose at the notion actresses must snap back into shape after giving birth.
She’s focused on being healthy and “sensible”.
She also urged other new mothers in her position to put parenting ahead of grueling gym sessions and weightloss.
“What kind of parent are you going to be if you’re to be berating yourself in the mirror?” she asked.
The most important aspect of her life now is ensuring she’s a positive role model for her baby girl. That includes not killing herself to be a size zero.
“I want to instill in her that when she’s happy on the inside she’ll be the most beautiful on the outside. I have to live by that same mantra and it’s a lot easier because I get to eat,” Drew said.
