Adele is ecstatic about her Oscar nomination.
The 24-year-old singer was nominated for Best Song with her single Skyfall.
The title track was recorded for the latest James Bond film starring Daniel Craig.
Adele took to Twitter on Thursday after hearing about the nod.
“Oh my god I feel like Meryl Streep!! Thank you,” she gushed. The revered actress has been nominated for 17 Oscars since 1979, winning three.
Adele composed Skyfall with Paul Epworth, who co-wrote and produced her hit Rolling in the Deep.
The Grammy winner will face stiff competition from fellow Best Song nominees Before My Time (Chasing Ice), Pi’s Lullaby (Life of Pi), Suddenly (Les Miserables) and Everybody Needs a Best Friend (Ted).
The 85th annual Academy Awards will take place in Los Angeles on February 24.
Adele is meanwhile set to make her first public appearance since becoming a mother at the Golden Globe Awards this weekend.
The British singer and her partner Simon Konecki welcomed their son into the world in October and since then she has retreated from the limelight.
Fox News reports Adele will be in attendance at the affair in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday to again support Skyfall, which is nominated in the Best Original Song category.
