Lincoln leads Oscar nominations

Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln has come out on top with 12 Oscar nominations.
The historical drama starring Daniel Day-Lewis was acknowledged in the best picture, cinematography, costume design, film editing, music, production design, sound mixing and writing categories.
Day-Lewis is up for a best actor prize, while his co-stars Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field have received nods for best actor and best actress in a supporting role.
Hot on the tail of Lincoln is Ang Lee’s Life of Pi, which scored an impressive 11 nominations.
Lee and Spielberg are both up for the best director gong, alongside Michael Haneke for Amour, Benh Zeitlin for Beasts of the Southern Wild and David O. Russell for Silver Linings Playbook.
Life of Pi was also acknowledged in the best picture category, along with Lincoln, Django Unchained, Argo, Zero Dark Thirty, Les Misérables, Amour, Beasts of the Southern Wild and Silver Linings Playbook.
Battling it out against Daniel for best actor are Bradley Cooper for Silver Linings Playbook, Hugh Jackman for Les Misérables, Joaquin Phoenix for The Master and Denzel Washington for Flight.
Jessica Chastain made the list for best actress for her role in Zero Dark Thirty, as well as Jennifer Lawrence for Silver Linings Playbook, Naomi Watts for The Impossible, Quvenzhané Wallis for Beasts of the Southern Wild and Emmanuelle Riva for Amour.
Quvenzhané caused a stir for being the youngest to ever win an Oscar nomination, at the tender age of nine.
