Kate Winslet ‘celebrating wedding in space’

Kate Winslet and her new husband will celebrate their wedding with a trip into space.
The Oscar-winning actress secretly tied the knot with Ned RocknRoll in New York City earlier this month. Ned works for his uncle, Sir Richard Branson, and the business tycoon has invited the newlyweds to join him on his Virgin Galactic space flight next year.
Richard wanted Kate to have the flight as a thank you for rescuing his mother after a fire broke out on his private Necker Island retreat last year.
According to British newspaper The Sun, Ned suggested the space trip would be the perfect wedding gift for his new bride.
The two-hour journey will see passengers taken 60 miles above the Earth, and they will experience weightlessness.
Kate won’t be the only famous face on board. Stars including Ashton Kutcher, Russell Brand and Stephen Hawking will also be making the trip. Tickets for the experience are being sold for £124,000.
Meanwhile, rumours have been circulating that Kate could be pregnant following their covert nuptials.
However, sources close to the Hollywood star insist that although she would love to have a child with Ned, a baby isn’t on the way just yet.
“Ned says a baby is definitely the plan for them next — and they’ve had a lot of fun practising,” a source told The Sun.
Only a handful of guests – including Kate’s two children from previous relationships – were present to see the pair tie the knot.
Not even their close family knew of their plans to wed until they got in contact to share their happy news over Christmas.
Ned is believed to have told his stepbrothers that he had married Kate on December 26.
“Ned rang them on Skype late that night and said, ‘Would you like to speak to my wife?’ and pulled a beaming, giggling Kate into the shot. It was very sweet and they’re happy,” a source told the publication.
It has been reported their wedding and engagement rings were made by one of the British royal family’s favourite jewellers. Kate and Ned are believed to be close friends with Charles Goode, who previously designed Zara Phillips’ diamond and platinum engagement ring.
They exchanged matching £250,000 platinum bands encrusted with diamonds.
Kate and Ned are set to spend New Year’s Eve on Necker Island with their close family and friends. It is believed they will throw a party for their loved ones to celebrate their nuptials.
The pair began dating last year after meeting on the private island.
