Jennifer Lawrence is annoyed no one told her about her “smush face” in The Hunger Games.
The actress plays teenage heroine Katniss Everdeen in the blockbuster movie. Catching Fire, the follow-up to the film, is currently being shot and Jennifer has vowed not to pull so many faces during action scenes this time. She wishes someone had pointed out her pained expression while they were making the first film in the trilogy.
“When I watched The Hunger Games I was like, ‘Why didn’t anyone tell me to stop making that smush face every time I run?’” Jennifer laughed to the latest edition of British movie magazine Empire. “So personally I love an honest, no bullsh*t way of making a movie.”
The 22-year-old star has been busy promoting offbeat comedy drama Silver Linings Playbook, which also stars Bradley Cooper. Jennifer has garnered Oscar buzz for her performance as a young widow and she was thrilled to work with director David O. Russell. The star appreciated the filmmaker’s honest approach on the set of the movie and claims it can be difficult to ever be told the truth in Hollywood.
“The problem, I think, is that actors are constantly bullsh**ted. Everyone is telling us we’re a million times better than we are and David doesn’t have a bullsh**ter inside him and that’s amazing,” she explained. “I will be in the middle of a take and I can hear him go, ‘Oh my God, you’re so bad!’ I’ve seen movies where I’m like, ‘God, I suck, why didn’t anybody stop me?!’”
