Muse’s Matt Bellamy ‘’made an effort’’ with the guitar solos on ‘The 2nd Law’.
The ‘Survival’ band’s frontman was claims he has shied away from including guitar solos on the band’s past records, but wanted to pull out all the stops for their sixth album.
He told Classic Rock magazine: ‘’I kind of feel embarrassed that people always see to think I’m a good guitarist, so on this album I wanted to make an effort. It’s the first time I’ve done some actual guitar solos. I think my favourite one is ‘Animals’ where I’m playing a very clean guitar sound.’’
Matt also told how the band played around with each song, and approached them in different ways during the recording process.
He added to Classic Rock magazine: ’’We’ve learned a lot from producing the album ourselves again. We’ve learned to create these challenges that make us do something in the opposite way to what we’d expect.
‘’For example, ’Follow Me’ was a song where we had a actually had a band version that sounded like a regular Muse song. But then we did the verse and converted it into a digital version of the same song. Then we did the opposite of that for ‘The 2nd Law: Unsustainable’, where we had something which was more like an electronic, dubstep sound, and we decided to play it with organic instruments.’’
‘The 2nd Law’ is released on October 1.
