will.i.am wanted The Script’s ‘Hall of Fame’ for his own album.
The Black Eyed Peas main man was so impressed with the Irish band’s song he asked if he could record a version, but they wanted to keep it for themselves, so asked him to guest on theirs.
Singer Danny O’Donoghue, 31, told UK radio station Capital FM: ‘’He heard it and I think he loved the song, and he was like: ’I need this for my album, please can I have this for my album?’
‘’I was like: ’Look, no,’ so it was the obvious thing to say: ‘Listen… just jump on the track with us.’’’
Danny – who is joined in the group by Mark Sheehan and Glen Power – has long been a fan of Black Eyed Peas, even before they changed their sound from hip-hop to pop and achieved international fame with 2003 single ‘Where is the Love’.
He added: ‘’I grew up listening to all of [Will.i.am’s] stuff, you know, ‘Request + Line’ back in the old days when Fergie wasn’t in the band, so to finally have this come full circle and to actually be working with a hero of mine as well, it was really strange.’’
‘Hall of Fame’ by The Script featuring Will.i.am will go on sale on August 19.
