Paul McCartney donates signed guitar to Nordoff Robbins

Sir Paul McCartney has donated a signed bass guitar to be auctioned at the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards.

The Beatles legend has put one of his iconic Hofner bass violin guitars up for auction in order to raise funds for the Nordoff Robbins foundation – which aims to help improve the lives of vulnerable children and adults through music and hosts the annual ceremony.

Paul – who is a committed campaigner for several charities and organisations including PETA, Make Poverty History and the Red Cross – will see his instrument sold at the event on June 29 at London’s Park Lane Hilton Hotel.

The 37th annual ceremony will bring together a host of musicians, and Jessie J, Emeli Sandé, Conor Maynard, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and Michael Bublé will all be presented with awards on the day.

The guitar will be on display between June 8 and 12 at Christie’s Auction House in South Kensington, London. Details on how to bid for Paul’s guitar can be found at

The ‘Yesterday’ hitmaker celebrated his 70th birthday on Monday (18.06.12) with a romantic Italian getaway with his wife Nancy Shevell.
